Intro to Safety Compliance
Good Morning, I’m Dylan Ruhl, Director of Client Services for Keystone Risk Essentials. There are a couple of misconceptions about safety that I’d like to clear up as we get started.
Myth 1: OSHA Regulations Do Not Apply to Me
Clarification: The only way this statement is true is if you are one of the following:
- Self Employed
- Immediate family members of farm employers
- State and Local Government Workers
- Including Boroughs and Municipalities
- Some Water Authorities
- Schools
There is a common misconception that because you have 10 or fewer employees at all times throughout the year (seasonal employers need to pay attention here!) that you do not need to follow OSHA regulations. This exemption only applies to OSHA Injury and Illness Records (OSHA 300 forms). No matter the size of your company, OSHA regulations apply.
Myth 2: My Employee Handbook will be sufficient if OSHA comes onsite and asks for our safety manual.
Clarification: This is false, a couple paragraphs about safety will not be sufficient if OSHA comes knocking.
Through your Keystone Risk Essentials Safety Subscription you will be provided with customized safety programs that will satisfy your written compliance requirements.
Myth 3: Safety Incentive Programs are a good idea.
Clarification: This is false, a couple paragraphs about safety will not be sufficient if OSHA comes knocking.
Through your Keystone Risk Essentials Safety Subscription you will be provided with customized safety programs that will satisfy your written compliance requirements.
